Default Advice please! geatly appreciated!

hello mates! i currently drive a 01 disco 2 and love it but have the opprotunity to grab a 04 RR w/ only 40k. I was hoping people could give me some advice as to what i should look for in the vehice before i buy, what i should plan to have happen (costs etc) or if all the rumors about 'garbage' vehicles etc is true or not. I heard the same things about my disco but it has been a trooper! I do take very good care of my vehicles.... ANY ADVICE GREATLY APPRECIATED! THANKS!!!!!

The L322 style RRs hold up very well mechanically but tend to have little electrical gremlins that come and go. Most of the time people freak out about them and think the vehicle is unreliable... The engines in the L322s are the 4.4 BMW V8s which are very good engines. They are prone to head gasket failures, but not anymore so than a Discovery or previous style RR. At least you don't have to worry about block cracks and liner slips. Offroading is going to be a bit limited with a newer style RR, especially in comparison to a Disco. They are still very capable off-road and the road manners of the L322 are very refined due to the independent suspension. If you can find a well taken care of L322 that has all the paper work and with low miles at a price lower than 25k, it would definitely be worth it .

actually head gaskets are not prone to fail. The radiators, the coolant hoses, and the water galleys and oil hoses are prone to fail.

make sure it has had the recalls done or else.

and the water cooled alternators are expensive as hell.
