Default Caution: non OEM ignition coil RRC

Dogded a bullet yesterday...

I ventured a good 100 miles into the desert yesterday in my Classic, first significant trip since sorting out a bunch of annoying driveablity issues..

Today I drove the car to work and was beaming at how great it was running, smooth, cold AC, solid idle, no falters...then it just quit, kaput...nada, no restart, just cranking and cranking...on a freeway offramp of course, and yes, it is extrememly heavy to push by hand...

Got a tow home and behold my brand new coil bit the dust. This coil had about 244 miles on it and just flat gave it up...I foolishly opted for an "allmakes" and it left me stranded...I figured these thing couldnt be that bad this day in age, wow that was wrongful and wishfull thinking. it is a crap product..

The truck is purring like a kitten again after swapping back the bosch unit I had in my spares pack (that was sitting on my workbench ready to be loaded into the rig...). I could have easily been stranded way out in the sticks without my life boat...I'm a lucky bastard..in a sense anyway..

OK, so no more "All Makes" parts from here on out...

Thats it..all i had to say..

Sure is a handsome rig...if I must say so myself...

Quality control as a guiding principle varies from one organization to another....

True that...

Kudos out to Trevor at Rovahfarm.com though.

I had ordered a Bosch unit, he was out of stock so I said what the heck, try out a cheapie..it failed instsantly..he is accepting it back for a full refund, and I will get back to procuring a Bosch unit once again...lesson learned..

I'm just totally relieved it didnt **** the bed yesterday out in the sticks...recovery would have been a bear without my spares...next top priority is to pack all my spares in the damn rig...

I still wouldnt trade it for anything else (except maybe a good D1). I know it pretty well by now, and I'm confident I can fix about anything as long as a major component doesnt grenade on me..Which will likley happen now that I mentioned it...
