Cleaning the Throttle Body Instructions
Although this is on the discovery forum, I figured I would post one for the RR forum, even though they are the same engines. You will need, a screw driver and a bottle of carb and choke cleaner.
First thing is to put the rangie's left tire on a stand so the cleaner will spill into the intake, instead out of it. (I drove the rover only half way up the ramp).
Next is to disconnect the MAF from the filter by undoing the little latches and then removing the intake pipe from the manifold by loosening the screw on the clamp. It should come off with little to no effort.
You may also want to remove this wire from a slot on the intake pipe, it enables you to simply move the pipe out of the way instead of having to disconnect everything (take care not to damage the wires and refer to the 4th image).
I know, its filthy. I'm was just as surprised as you are!
Next, open the butterfly valve by moving the throttle lever next to it (just follow the cruise control cable)and spray as much of the stuff in there as you want, I used the whole can. Spray on the upper half of the butterfly valve more than the lower part, otherwise it will start to overflow...
After you are finished spraying the cleaner, put it all back together and fire it up! It will take a few cranks before it will start, so be patient and help it out. After it is up and running, take it for a quick putt around the neighborhood to burn off the remaining cleaner.
Repeat this process as necessary, YES IT WAS NECESSARY FOR ME LOL!
