Default climate control and radio on fritz.

I have a 1997 4.6 HSE that's developed an issue with both the climate control and the radio. They were working fine earlier in the day but after a brief stop for groceries they failed to come back on.

This happened once before a month or two ago but the next day it worked fine. It's been several days now with no such luck.

The climate control back light comes on but no characters show up on the screen and the controls have no effect. There's no heat whatsoever and, well, it's getting cold up here in Northern Idaho.

The radio just fails to work at all. The code light was blinking but has since stopped. Pushing the power button does not bring up the "enter code" option.

Any thoughts would be welcome before I take it into the shop. Thanks for the help.

relay 7 on the engine compartment fuse box is not grounding, you can trace this back to a malfunction in the body electrical control module or becm, just worked on a car with the exact symtoms

Thank you very much for your help. I'll pass that along to the mechanic.
