Default Comments on any of the "off brand" winches?

Hello - I located and read a thread on the Badlands 12K winch. Sounds like a darn good unit for a really darn good price. I may end up getting that brand, but am doing some research on other brands as well. And I have been wondering what other "off brand" winches anyone here may have experience with or comments on? I am looking to get a 10K - 12K non-synthetic winch that will see very light duty and I don't care at all if it's considered slow in comparison to the "Big Dubya".

I am seeing these brands/sizes/prices on promarkoffroad.com today:

PROMARK 10K Midnight Series: $329.00
PROMARK SILVERBACK 12K: $499.00

MILE MARKER SEC 12K $554.00

SUPERWINCH TIGER SHARK 11.5K $479.00

Does anyone currently have a Promark, Mile Marker or Superwinch?

Any advice on what NOT to get would be great also. I guess I want 1.5X the weight pulling power compared to the GW of my Rover……based on that I need to definitely get at least a 10K and probably 11K or 12K to assure I don't find myself STUCK and F**KED.

Thanks.

SMD

After a great customer service experience with promark, I purchased a small 3k atv/utility winch, from them. haven't used it enough to speculate on durability or longevity, but it is slow and it works fine....no problems, yet....time will tell. limited lifetime warranty

Take a look at Recon winches. Recon Accessories: Part # 264100PPW - 10,500LB Pro Performance Series Winch

The 10,500 lb setup with 88' of 7/16" syn line can be bought for $440 on eBay.

acamato: I reviewed the link you provided….that Recon winch does look like it's pretty high quality. Good price, good warranty.
