Default Disco to Range switch

Thinking about a new vehicle, Im very satisfied with my 98 Disco 1. It runs great and I have no warning lights or major problems that irritate me. The look of the Disco leaves alittle to be disired though, hense the want to switch to a Range Rover. The Range that im looking at is a 2002 model 4.6L HSE. What kind of issues will I look by making this change. It seems like the Range Rovers have more electrical issues than my disco does but my disco has more engine issues than the range. Any advice will be great. Maybe a good flaming would be in order for wanting to get rid of a perfectly good disco 1 with no issues.

I just bought an '02 Range with 98k miles. Personally I love it, but it's had more problems so far then I feel that it should. Even with the problems I love it, I don't think the Disco even compares. My cousin has an '04 Disco and an '06 Range, both HSE, and I've driven them both, but I don't think the Disco comes close to either of the Range Rovers. My sunroof is not set, it will not slide open, but it will tent to vent. My thermostat had to be replaced this past weekend. Also, the CD Changer will not work. Other than those problems it's great and I'm in love with it. If you can handle an amount of quirks about that many every couple of months then you should be fine. I would try and find one without the air suspension, I do not have it, and I wish I did, but I know I would be screwed if it went out so the conversion is best for me. Go for it, there's just something about a Range Rover.

If you love your Disco...its not having what you want, its wanting what you have that makes you happy
I bought a 99 Range Rover in July with 77k miles and I'm lovin' it. It came with the coil suspension conversion although it wasn't advertised that way and I was looking for the access features of the air suspension. Now that I have it, I like having the coil suspension and I've taken care of the access issues of climbing up into it at normal ride height. The issue I'm having now is the cruise control does not work. I get a red led on the switch on the dashboard. I'm wondering if it is because I'm not getting the NORMAL ride height signal from the suspension to activate the cruise control switch because the air suspension electronics are disconnected?
I reglued the headliner, reconnected the driver's door handle so that the handle works from the outside, and replaced the pollen filters (which had obviouslynever been done before). Why does the Range Rover dealer want 45 dollars for pollen filters when you can mail order them for 15 dollars?
I had to reenter the radio security code to get the stereo to work. Write me if you are having problems with THAT problem.
The left hand heater blower motor is not working but I'm going to first try replacing the transistors on the one I have before paying 300 dollars for a replacement. The right hand blower is not quite powerful enough to keep the interior cool on a hot South Carolina summer day.
I bought a set of 4 original RR tires and wheels on eBay for 55 dollars from someone who upgraded their tires. "Thank you God"
The 99 and newer Range Rovers should have fewer problems because of better electronics although I think my 99 is actually a rebadged 98 model. But now I'm starting to ramble...[:-]
