Engine life of '92 County Classic?
Hello:
Is 155,000 miles on a well maintained '92 County considered a lot?
How many miles do you see these go before needing major surgery (top-end +)?
I am having a tough time figuring-out if $4,900 is reasonable for this vehicle...it DOES have the dreaded tailgate rust issues...will need to replace withing next year.
Should 155,000 miles worry me in a well documented and maintained '92 County?
This needs to be a daily driver for me.
Thanks!!
SG

I bought my 90 RRC with roughly 170k ( speedo/odo was intermittently inop ) and have been going through each wear item bit by bit so I KNOW what state everything is in. I have found some items that were factory and some that had been replaced. I have found some things like the swivel ball bearings and u-joints that needed replacement . Other items that were simply in need of re-greasing and adjustment. The bushings shocks and springs all needed replacing. The steering box is next as it has some excessive tolerance but really all was in surprisingly good shape. I bought mine with the intention of gong through it and modifying/improving its on and off road ability and comfort. I hope this helps a little.
Cheers and good luck with your choice

Thank you, Ken!
Any input is always great....I was beginning to wonder if the forum was not all that active.
I have been part of other forums (auto-related) and every single post gets a nice multi-response set of input or answers...
Thanks again.

FYI I also tossed my ticking 3.9 and swapped in a low mile 4.2 from a 95 LWB.
This forum has been helpful on occasion. There are lots of them out there if you want to explore. Mud-Club is a good one ,too ( albeit not U.S. based).

I have a 1990 classic and with 181k mileage and it runs great (starts right up and runs awesome), of course doing the general maintenance and getting underneath the truck is a great idea to check for leaks and go through the car to really know what's going on with it. My friend Dara also has a truck it's 1992 classic with 182k and his runs awesome as well, alot of power on the road and off the road (hehe..).
