Default Gas Guage Always Half Full

I'm wondering if anyone else has had an issue on the classic with the needle for the gas gauge not registering at full.

Even if I fill up my tank the needle only stays at half full.

I'm wondering if this is a fuel pump or sending unit issue and wanted to see if other's have experienced this.

Your float is most likely getting stuck. Sometimes a fuel system cleaner will repair this. Could also be the sending unit like you said.

Most likely the sending unit and it could be a stuck float but it is definitely not the fuel pump.

I have the same problem in my 03' RR HSE except mine goes up to 3/4 tank. Has not been a problem, so I have not addressed it, but I might try the fuel system cleaner as a potential inexpensive fix. Any suggestions on what type of fuel system cleaner should be used?

Default Stuk Float

If you suspect a stuck float, take a rubber mallet to the bottom of the fuel tank where the fuel pump is located. The fuel pump assy sits against the bottom of the tank.

03 range rover has two pumps, the jet pump and regular pump and two level sensors.

need to have that one diagnosed to find out which one isnt working right.
