Question Hill Descent Control won't disengage 03 RR

Hi. I have an 03 RR and yesterday my HDC was engaged...not quite sure how it happened: I didn't purposely engage it. I've tried to manually disengage it and leave the vehicle shut off for 6+ hrs (as the manual states), but it is still engaged. When I start my car the light is on sometimes and not sometimes, but when I get just over 20 mph it HDC green light flashes and the message center flashes the warning NO HDC, SLOW DOWN. When I slow down the message goes away and the the HDC light goes off. Also if I drive over roughly 35 mph for a minute or 2 the warnings and light goes off, but it eventually comes back on. The car is still driving normally, except if when I start my car and the HDC green light is on and I back out off the driveway...I can feel the HDC working when I press the brake pedal. If anyone has any advice as to how to disengage it or what the problem may be I would very much appreciate it. Thank you!

sounds like a short in the switch... however, you are not feeling the hdc working when you hit the brakes, its designed to function only when you are off throttle and brake, you should feel it when youre coasting to a stop
