Default how to remove fuel pump from tank?

99 rr 4.0 Gems -
I cut a hole in floor, have access to pump from top, disconnected hoses and electricals, but make the thing budge. Don't want to force it, but what is the secret? Does the White plastic outer bit stay with the tank? If so, does the gray plastic part just come straight up, or does it require a twist, or what ??? The manual of course is no help here. This car has 200k miles and I suspect things are just stuck from corrosion, etc. Any help?
Kevin in Minneapolis.
Thanks!

These "templated" forums SUCK. The people and info are great, but the UI is horrible. Why can't I add a photo easily?

no need for a hole, dam 3 nuts and 2 bolts hold the whole tank drops out of the truck.

Now you need the official LR tool get the sender out of the tank.

only kidding use a large pair of water pump pliers and unscrew the black ring,
lacking large water pump pliers use a punch and a hammer to spin the black ring lose.

once the ring is off, wiggle the pump and you will see a tab, under the tab is a slot that you can insert a screw driver to raise the pump out of the seal

did you get a new seal for the pump?

Use lube on ring WD etc. I used a bronze punch on mine (carefully).

I got the fuel pump, just a bit of wrestling.
Found a Delphi unit to replace the pump. Seems to fit ok.
Now have to assemble the thing - there are NO diagrams of assembly anywhere!
Then, hopefully, stick it in the tank and start the car. Fingers crossed. KO.

there are no diagrams, because LR only sells the pump assembly
