Hello, my spark plug wires on my 99 4.6 p38 are due to be changed. I bought a replacement set of plugs and wires from Atlantic British. I was wondering what I should be expecting to pay for labor from a local shop? Also do I need to buy a intake plenum gasket for when the plugs and wires are replaced?

The spark plugs are not that hard to replace but, just take a little time. If you do not mind getting your hand's dirty and pulling a wrench out, it may be worth doing it yourself. You can expect to pay about $75 h/r for labor, and that is usually a low rate too. I don't think you need an intake plenum gasket unless it is leaking but, I may be wrong. Do you have the BMW engine or the GEMS?

So would 2 hours of labor be fare?

 

2 hours seems reasonable but, I sure hope it doesn't take them that long.

 

Most shops/dealers charge 4 to 5.5 hours depending on if you have secondary air injection.
