Default Leaking axle seals on low-mileage RR Sport

I've got a 2006 RR Sport with low miles, about 25000. The last two times I've had it serviced, the shop told me that the front axle seals are leaking and should be repaired---for over $1000.

I've done a lot of repairs on my old D2, but nothing on this RRSport. I never had a problem like this on the D2, so I don't even really know what these leaky seals are or how they could be such a problem after only 25000 miles.

Any advice on my next step?

clarification: leaking differential seals.

I've read that 06's had diff problems, with some people just opting to replace entire diff....

You seem far from convinced that this seal(s) needs replacing. A leaking seal should be something that your tech can easily show you on the lift. They should also be able to justify why it's $1000.
Why at 25k miles? Who knows??? Defect / mistake in manufacuring or assmebly??? The problem is that you've ignored the problem more then once. If you don't trust your shop get a 2nd opinion. One thing I can say, unless someone is replacing the gear oil you will need a new differiantial.

Good Luck!!!

I haven't ignored it. Both times, they said that it was something that didn't need to be done imminently.

Having done some more research, apparently what happened was the '06 RRS had paint on the inside of the diff housing, and this paint would chip off and ruin the oil, which would get too hot and start to leak out of the seals.
