my $1500 P38 is back on the road!
well its been a little of a bit of a wait but i got my P38 back on the road! i bought this P38 super cheap for $1500 earlier this year in non-running condition. PO said the fuel pump was bad -- rather it was a much more serious issue but still worth the $$.
after me and my buddy picking up a AA yellow vitesse for $1000 late last year that turned out to be the bargan of the century i had to have one of my own as well and found this '97 4.0. had some serious over heating issues and a bad heater core and it was missing its rear driveshaft.
given the intensity of the over heating issue, i wasn't going to mess with it. picked up a replacement engine for less than a grand after i saw this mess...

engine swap was easy but had to be done twice since the shop i bought the replacement engine from first sent us a bad motor and was forced to replace it. but they did pull through and i was left with a lot of extra bonus parts.

brought the old engine back to our warehouse and its going to be stripped and turned into a table. velocity stacks will become a pool table light

once the engine was back in, a lot of testing was in store. the engine runs outstanding, so the next area of concern was the transmission and transfer case --- esp since the rear driveshaft was missing. we put a new one in and everything works perfectly!

so after all the parts and the cost of the truck, i'm still less than 3k into it, which to me is still one hell of a good deal. it drives perfect and runs strong. the only other parts that i need for it before the snow flies is a new heater core, wiper motor, and muffler (which fell off after off roading
)
can't wait for all the great adventures that i will have with this rover, i'm very excited to have it back on the road and saved from the parts yard!

Wow! Interesting valve cover photo - too much Lucas or just severe coolant in oil?
Now you are equipped to outdistance the plethora of politicians that will be descending upon your fine state - matter of fact, if you smell ANY incumbents, could you invite them to join the unemployment line?
