Carb fuel pump problem
Hi all,
I converted my RR into a 3.5 v8 carb.Used to be 3.9i.
Problem is that I have not a found a fuel pump that runs the carb engine properly.
Last one I tried is the PRC3901 which is normally the one working with carbs. It died after 10 minutes. The pump was from Britpart and I had tried another one from the same brand before, the 8318 (EFI) and it stopped working after a very short time.
Has someone already experienced that kind of issue. Is Britpart really crap? Would a facet pump work better?
Thanks!

How much fuel pressure is required for your car, by the books? What sort of pressure are you getting at the carb? Might look at an AirTex, E-3270, which makes about an extra 16#'s pressure over a normal Rover pump.
Ok, thanks for your help. I live in Tanzania, East Africa and it is hard to get those information. I think it does need a bit more pressure than usual though for the two carbs to work...
I found a used one yesterday that seems to work fine. The engine works better than ever when it's on the run. However, it suddenly stops when idling at times and does not restart right away. It especially happens at traffic lights. The oil light comes on at idle too. Also, the water comes down very quickly since I changed the engine. Guess it still needs a few more adjustments before I can take it off-road...

I use to have an '85 with a 4.0L I installed. It originally have dual Stromberg 175CD's and I eventually switched to a four barrel Edelbrock. It needed around 6psi IIRC. I used a generic fuel pump that mounted along the chassis rail just ahead of where the OEM Facet pump was located. I bought the pump at Advance Auto for about $45. It came with a lifetime warranty. I put a fuel filter before it and one up by the carb and it worked like a charm.
