Default Noisy Drivetrain 99 Range Rover

I am test driving a 1999 Land Rover Range Rover, with 51,000 miles, 4.6l V8. It has 18inch Michelins that appear to be wearing smooth. It has a loud roar at 55mph, never had or driven a Land Rover before. Are they all noisy or should i be concerned?

51k miles is really low, especially for the year. They do roar, but under other circumstances, and at 55mph they are not (mine does not). Where is the noise coming from?

Sounds like from the rear end of the vehicle.

Since it seems to have done alot of sitting, Maybe some Surface rust has started on the ring and pinion. I know that causes mild gear whine on a few other cars.. Or maybe the car was not taken care of and the diff fluid is dirty and old and that is causing the differential to whine?

Something like this is hard to diagnose, It really just speculations at this point. It needs to be opened up and looked at for a definitive answer. Honestly a Little gear whine never hurt anyone..
