Default Price of a key

I got a laugh, actually I am still laughing about it. I went to my area Land Rover dealer to inquire about some new keys. I'm in New Jersey and have an '05 RR HSE. Here it comes!!!!! $262.00 per key plus a one time reprogramming fee of $54.00. OUCH!!!! But there is nothing that I can do the two keys I have are getting worn, and no dice with valet keys. Guess that's the price of owning the best suv/truck on the road.

Wow, didn't know they were that much. Can they really be worth that much?

Most remote keys that are similar will run as much if not more... it's not horrible considering

Yea thats pretty normal. My dad's 2000 explorer uses a $180 key, plus the reprogramming fee. My 2000 Blazer runs $175, but no reprogramming fee (included in the price). Annnnnd finally, 01 Range, $185, plus reprogramming, plus the whole 3 week turn-around time since their cut in England.

Its still alot of money though [&o]

And if you do not have a spare it is a real nightmare to get a replacement cost aside.

If I can weigh in here, I have a question myself. Is anyone aware of a re-build kit - my rubber button housings are worn thin/through. The keys work fine otherwise and a re-build kit would be cheaper than replacement.

I know they made kits for the P38 model, but not sure for the Mk3.

Thx - And Merry X-mas Happy Hannukah and the like to all you out there.

Bob
