Purchase suggestions
Hey everyone,
We'll the Rover bug is biting me again and need some help.
In the last 10 years, I've gone thru a D90 and Disco 1 & 2. Now I have a (family) RWD sedan and need some adventure again. Plus miss the 4WD!!!
I started looking at P38 RR's. Is there anything I should watch out for. I've have the Discovery's so I used to the issues that come up but any help with the Range Rover's would be appreciated! I'm just looked at a '97 in very nice shape...or to my eye it is...
Also maybe another disco 2?
I'm looking at it for easy weekend off-roading in the Pocono's to take my kids and drive in the winter.
Thanks!!!

My limited experience with P-38's is it is one of the most maligned vehicles LR has made.
Yes; you will have blend motor problems (HVAC).
yes, the lock will magically lock and unlock themselves as you drive down the street.
the driveshaft will eat u-joints but it is a standard u-joint not a double Cardone joint.
lastly you will at sometime have problems with the air-ride, you can maintain it or replace it with springs.
I have had mine 8 months and it has cost me plugs, wires and a u-joint total less than $100.00. In the same time span I'll guess I put $1500 into my DII.
Look for late model like a 99 still has the gems engine and has the improved front and read differentials.
JMHO, maybe I got a especially good one
Ps its also nice to have 6 inch of height adjustment at your finger tip.

Being that you are already a Rover owner, you know what you're getting into. Owning a RR is whole set of new problems and great times. Range Rover net spells out many issues. That being said the video link above shows many of the great times. The choice is up to you. I've been bitten by that Rover bug many times (6) Disco's (series 1 & series 2), and (3) RR's) Once you go Rover you don't go back. Happy Hunting
