Dude, chill. You want an easy button.... solve your problem? Ain't gonna happen without you getting the codes. People here will help but you start with trying to help yourself first. Codes, they are the password to resolve.

I have a 98 Range Rover 4.6, could anybody advise where is the Emission Maintenance Reminder relay? I tried to find it from passenger side kick panel, under the passenger seat, but could not find it.

On the D1's, the amber engine light is for codes and the red light is for service reminders. It comes on to tell you to go get work done based on a schedule not a problem. I found this which may help: Resetting the Service Engine Light

For those of you with the OBD2 vehicles, you don't have a separate reminder light. An amber service engine light means you have a problem and a stored code.

There's this for the later models where you get a message reminder: JE Robison Service — the blog: How to reset the service reminder on late model Land Rovers

EDIT: Looks like the P38's through 1999 still had the red emissions reminder light that comes on at 82,500 miles. It may be activated by a separate relay like the D1's but I would doubt it. You will need to find an indy shop, go to the dealer or use a nice piece of black tape.

04duxlr,

Thank you for your reply. The JE Robison link you posted looks like only works for newer land rover. Mine is 1998 range rover, I still think there is a relay hidden somewhere to set the service light, I don't know where to locate it. Do you have any idea?

Yes, I know that is for the later Rovers with a message reminder not a light. You have a P38 Rover.

Anyone knows where is the emission maintenance reminder relay for 98 range rover p38? Or there is no relay for Service Engine Light? I tried to find it, but could not.

Yeah, supposedly it only works on very very new cars. It won't work on my 2006 LR3, but it is said to work on 2008+ LR3. I'm wondering if it will work after I update all of my software to the latest and greatest. I've got other ways of turning the remind off, so it's no big deal, but it would be nice to be able to do it with no scanner.
