Default Sign of a bad transfer box . . . on a 4.6 RR HSE

Does anyone know of the symptoms of when it is time for the transfer box to be replaced?

The symptom-floor board shaking upon acceleration. The test drive was only 30 min. It "acted up" when returning to the house. with the different things I found wrong like the leaking head gasket and the vibration upon acceleration I decided to make my offer with the thought of how much it would cost me. He came down from 13,700 to 12,400 but I still thought it was too much and stayed with my offer of 10,000 which I thought was fair since the Rover needed work. Needless to say he has not called me back. He stated he had someone who wanted to purchase it sight unseen and just met with me as a courteousy since I was the first to respond to his advertisement. What are anyones thoughts on the vibrating floorboard on drivers side upon acceleration?
