Snow Tools
It has been snowing quite a bit in my area and I had to make a post about how impressed I am with the RR abilities in the snow. The car was new last winter and I didn't have snow tiressoit was rarely out but this year is different.
I was in a blizzard yesterday driving down the highway and the first thing I saw was the typical snow storm SUV pile up. 4 Suv's that were probably going WAY too fast for the conditions were very crumpled to say the least. As I continued on my slow journey the snow became much worse and was piling up on the roads so fast that salt trucks couldn't treat it and this is when the RR truly impressed me.
It felt nice tohave a car that has so many tools available to me. Obvious DSC is useful but that is on almost every car. I enjoyed having the Snow mode selection, AWD, downhill descent control and of course my snow tires. I even appreciated having the front and rear fog lights for optimum visibility. I truly believe that the Range Rover is the perfect winter car.
I saw so many cars slipping, some spun out and others just sitting on the side of the road but the Range Rover felt confident. Even making a lane change over a good portion of snow was simple and the tires didn't pull one way or another.
It sure felt nice to have the Range Rover with all of its tools especially in such fierce conditions. I love this vehicle more and more every day!

I'm a bit jealous of the snow too... although a couple weeks of it would be enough to cause me to start hating it.
The terrain settings are supposed to control wheel spin (i.e. prevent from locking up too much while still allowing the wheels to lock up as much as possible without causing the vehicle to slide) and apply/limit torque as required. The snow setting definitely limits the torque and doesn't even require a gear shift. It's a pretty ingenious system.
