Default subwoofer driver replacement

This isn't a question, I just wanted to share a repair that worked pretty good.
I have the fancy ADS stereo with factory subwoofer. It was DOA when I bought it. Turned out to be the driver. ADS is sold, and the new owners don't have a shred of documentation, much less a replacement driver. I got an 8" Kicker instead ($50), which was way too big for the place where the winky 8" ADS speaker was.
Modified the stock speaker box: removed the divider that mounted the old driver and sealed the hole where the sound used to come out. Then cut a hole and mounted the new driver in the side (near the middle). The stock box is right in the middle of the range for the recommended volumes for this new driver. Filled the box with white fiber crap (from a funky old pillow, actually), and then sealed it all up real good. Then drilled a hole pattern in the interior cover to let the sound out -- it doesn't look too bad, but I might get a grill later.
Anyway, it sounds way-bueno, and just cost $50.
