Default Rear door subwoofer EXACT FIT replacement JL Audio 6.5" component woofers

Ok, I admit I'm very picky when it comes to car audio. I expect, and want the best sound surrounding me, it's part of the driving experiencce. Having been spoiled by the Harmon Kardon systems in my Benz's, I needed to find something for my Disco to get me "close", and I have.
I literally just finished installing a pair of 6.5" dedicated component woofers into the rear door HK subwoofer housing and when I say exact fit, they are 100% compatible with the housing for this particular Sub. No modification whatsoever. The sound is simply night and day. My next venture is changing out the front and passenger main speakers with new JL Audio fitments. The door and pilar tweeters are excellent so I plan on leaving well alone. My intention being leaving the stock hi line Becker traffic pro system as is and update the speaker system only. That's my preference as my C300 comes out of hibernation soon.
I wanted to share this as I have read alot of mods people have done to fit various brand name woofers in the stock housing, others building extensions in the door panel, etc, but for those of you wishing to maintain the stock appearance and obtain superb bass as designed, these woofers are the answer. See pics attached, one of them shows the model of the JL Audio woofers which I bought on Ebay through JL audio. The other photo shows stepwise fitment. Took all of 45 minutes from open to close and half of that was wiring up the new woofers with post clips. I used the oem harness male and female. Hope this helps any of you interested who have the rear door subwoofer system in your rig. 👍

Quick follow up, these same woofers are compatible with each of the 4 speakers in the front and passenger doors (6.5") and will work exactly as they did for the rear door. The door 6.5" are woofers only, as there is a midrange on each door as well. 4 more of these bad boys about to be ordered.

Which ones are you going to run in the doors? Will these same ones fit?

it's $200 a pair, granted that is still pricey but you get what you pay for in this regard

These are about $200 for a pair. These are the mid bass drives that use to come with one of the JL component sets.

They must be clearing them for a new model coming out, that is probably why they are offering them individually. The FS on these are 57hz. Best you are going to get out of these in infinite baffle config is about 70hz. Still much better than the stock.

The actual JL 6.5 Subwoofers are 6W3v3. These are awesome, will not fit without a lot of modifications, and will require a amplifier upgrade. The JL 6W3v3 are about $200 per woofer.

cimomd, this is a awesome find. I don't think this will last much longer. These are good for the rear subbox and PERFECT for the front doors. Wish they were available when I was ordering for my audio upgrade

I'm trying to imagine what the sound would be with four more of those 6.5's in the doors compared to what I am hearing now when Jay-Z is doin his thang, but seriously given the proper fitment and shallow build of these C2-650cw's they will be more than adequate to improve the system without too much if any modifications... The one's you refer to are probably much higher up than the C2's but imo the C2's are better than anything out there for the price and it's a quality build.
