Trailer Brake install
Hi there all, new to this forum, Im looking to install a trailer brake control on my 2000 RR 4.6 HSE, Ive done alot of research and havent found the answer to my question, where do I find the cold brake control wire on my RR? I know newer year RR's you could find the plug and play adaptors, I havent found one for mine. My universal controler instructions is saying to find the cold side of the brake switch. Where do I find this, if you have done this install, do you have pictures? Also some tips on installing the 7 flatpin trailer harness would be helpful, I think I know what Im doing but would like to hear from someone that has already done this. I ordered the 4flat plug trailer adaptor from atlantic-british and plan on doing some splicing to adapt it to the 7 pin, any electric guru's out there to help guide me???
Thanks for your help in advanced!

Just follow the brake pedal lever up. There, you will find the brake light switch. You have to remove the cover under the dash on the driver's side. Then you have to remove a couple of heater ducts to expose access to the switch. There are 3 wires. The white wire should be hot. You don't want this wire. The 2 remaining wires (green/purple and yellow/purple) are cold until the pedal is pressed. You should be able to use either of these wires. green/purple goes to the BCM. yellow/purple goes to abs.
splicing a trailer wiring harness is asking for lots of trouble down the road. you do have a seven pin connector in the vehicle. the OEM has the seven pin connector with a simple connector that takes all of a minute to install. No splicing needed.
Hmm, not sure how splicing into that wire would be asking for trouble. A brake controller will pull less than 20mA from that circuit. The trailer brakes themselves aren't powered by that circuit, it only signals the controller that the brakes are being applied.
