Default Weird elect. probelm on Pass Door

I have come up with a problem on my passenger door. Sometimes the Rover does not recognize that the door is closed when it is and so the interior light will not go off when driving or when locking the car it does the "beep" to let me know that something is open. That would not be such a problem except that when it does still lock it will set off the alarm thinking that the door was opened when it was not. I have checked the wiring inside the door and cannot see what may be the issue so I am in need of ideas. Please let me know if you have ever come accross this or heard of it.

Thanks!

a bad door latch can, and generally is the only thing that does, cause this. if you just want this issue resolved and dont care about the door working how it should, meaning no lights when you open the door and it thinking its colsed when its not, just ground out the purple and white wire( different color based on year... thats for a 99+) that goes to the latch, the door will always think its closed

That is a good idea, I may try to find a new latch cause I know my wife will complain in the rare cases that she gets in it, but for the short term it would work. Thanks.
