I'm happy with my Continental DWS. Bought them at 4 wheel online at a good price. To me this tire is one of the best all around tires out there. If you want a more aggressive set of tires, check out the Cooper Zeon.

Changing from 19" to 20" won't change a thing as far as the air suspension is concerned. It may freak out and drop to the bump stops though when you jack the car up to change the tire.

Perhaps you should look into sorting that out.

Rather than start yet another tire thread I thought I would hop onto this one since its fresh.

On the topic of 19" tires, my wife picked up an 08 Range Rover HSE with brand new Bridgestone Dueller Allenza Plus tires (255/55/19). They ride nice enough, but she does not feel they have the chops that our LR3 has with General Grabber AT2's on it.

So, she wants me to ditch the duellers and find an All-Terrain tire for her to use year round. Obviously, the choices are limited in the 19" range. She does not really like the looks of the Cooper Zeon LTZ tires, so that is her last preference.

Her number one choice is the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac. However, she likes to drive fast and hard in the summer and I am unsure if this tire will perform the same as the Grabber AT2's on the LR3 or if it would be somewhat worse as the tread design seems slightly more toward the mud-terrain side.
Also, I noticed that the 255/55/19 is the one and only size made in Germany, its the ONLY one that is not snow rated, its lighter than the others, has an A temperature rating (versus B for all other sizes) and has a much lower wear rating (320 versus 500) than all the other sizes.
Clearly this tire is not the same as all the others, so I have no way of knowing what to expect from it. Anyone on this forum run this specific size??? I don't think reviews of any other size are going to be acurate. I am guessing the tread compound on this one size is used for another tire made for the European market - whether that is good or bad for my needs I do not know.

Her 2nd choice would be the newer Goodyear Wrangler Adventure tires (the eventual replacement for the SilentArmors). This would be a 31" tire as the only 19" size is 255/60/19. This one has a 109 load rating, which is on the low side, but the same as the stock 20" tires, so it should be ok for her as she would be 99% on road. My only concern here is the extra sidewall may makes things worse than the current tires around corners in the summer for her. Anyone running this size and have any feedback on how they perform??

I had Bridgestone Dueller tires on my Yukon and even with a good alignment and frequent rotations, they chopped up pretty bad.

Same brand tires on my '08 HSE and the wear perfectly. They seemed to do fairly well in the snow, but if snow/mud is your thing, I'm sure there are better.

Put Nitto Motivo on wife's X5-they are 20". Reasonably quiet on highway, ride is hard (rear are 315-35-20). For winter we switched to Hakapalita- these are the best, handle well, work well in snow, are quiet, ride comfort is great. She doesn't want to ge back to her summer set next spring.
