02 Range Rover Heater Core Issue!?!?!?!? Thoughts Please!!!
Hey fellas and ladies. I just took my 02 Range Rover in to the dealer to look at a coolant/antifreeze leak that was coming from under the passenger side running board and also a bit coming into the passenger front floor board. I figured that it was the heater core leaking and possibly the O Rings. They diagnosed the issue as the O Rings being fine and just the heater core needing to be replaced. They estimated the cost at $2413.00. I was wondering what you guys feel about this and if this estimate is fair. Any feedback would be greatly appreiciated.
Thanks,

Not sure how they can tell that the "O" rings are fine but the core is shot ..... I have no experience of anything later than a '93 classic but know this is a major job on a Classic andmeans dismantlingthe dash, I understand this is a full day job so I guess it depends on the cost of the core plus labour rate per hour.
Can you get another estimate from another Rover workshop?

Hey guys and girls, I just got my truck back from the dealer. After some terrible customer service from the dealer, I contacted my mechanic who works on my Mercedes S600s, and he said that he could do the heater core, plus labor, ect. for $1000 cash for me. I then told the service manager at the dealer that I would pick the Range up and take it to him. and wrote a pretty powerful letter to the Vice President of the dealership stating the fact that the customer service that they showed was horrendous and that the price was well inflated. After that letter, I got a call immediatley from the dealership manager BEGGING me to let them fix my Range and that they would do it for the $1000 quoted by my mechanic. Funny what a little research and communication can do. This in turn ended up saving me over $1400 for a dealer repair. Ill never EVER go back to that dealership, nor will any family and freinds. Thanks to you guys for all of your input on this topic and all of them throughout the rest of the forums!!!!!!!
Hi I have a the same problem on my RR 98 it is very easy fix. The Heater Cord O-Ring cost about 8.00 and you need 2 of them you will also need a senor is about 30.00. All you have to do is removed the glove box and the side pandle heat vent. you job take about four hour to complete make sure you drain your coolant or esle it will srip all over the front floor broad.
