03 D2 Crank Sensor (Maybe)
My wife was driving home after dropping me off at work and heard a clunk (great description I know) The rover continued on just fine until she let off the gas. Once she did that , it stalled and would not start. Today for some unknown reason the tank was reading more than was actually in it. Put in gas and all seemed fine. Have not had a chance to look at it yet but through research on here , have narrowed it down to this.
1. fuel pump and or fuses
2. Crank Sensor
3. ?
Anyone have any imput?

Linkage to throttle broken or out of adjustment?
Plug in a spare spark plug on the plug wires and lay on manifold, check for sparks while cranking. That will confirm or rule out the CKP sensor.
Fuul pump should be heard running for about 2 seconds when key turned to position 2.

I never thought of throttle linkage!! Will check it in the morning and post back my results. I live in northern Vermont so if it is simple and quick I will send it to the garage!
I was correct with the original assumption. Bad crank sensor. Just replaced all the brittle return hoses and put a new t stat in her and all is well!! Thanks for the quick reply!
@Savannah .... It was bitter cold out ( -5 to 10 below ) So I had the guy who towed it do it. He is mainly a diesel mechanic but whatever. He did it fast enough and charged me too much (per usual) I think I ended up paying 150 to get it done. Funny story to go with, he said I have a TERRIBLE oil leak. (whatever I keep close track of my fluids) he also said the engine had a misfire.... WTF misfire???? Was fine when I brought it in?? So pop goes the hood and guess who forgot to plug all the plug wires in? Yup! You should have seen the look on the old guys face when I asked if he diagnosed all cars with misfires after he forgot to put the plug caps back on!!! PRICELESS!!!!
