2005 LR3 (80K miles) won't shift into Drive after its been driven for a while in hot weather (typically 85F+ ambient temperature or hotter). Park and Reverse are fine. Won't shift into sport either. If I do get it into gear it will drop in and out of Drive at speed. Dash D indicator goes on and off accordingly. Once it cools it's fine.

bushing is rusted up on the transmission its where the cable meets the selector shaft. you can take it off and clean it up but be careful you don't snap the cable.

Whats the best way to access? Console removal? Any pointers on 05 LR3 console removal?

 

underneath the vehicle. there is a plate with four screws over the transmission. you will see the cable.
