'10 RR Restrictive Performance warning with amber triangle!
On a 2010 Range Rover Supercharged with 41K miles, we got an amber warning light with "Restrictive Performance" as the message. It would go on and off for about 100 miles, then the amber check engine light came on. No other issues.
Anyone seen this before?

perhaps software from the dealer. So much electronics on board, always be sure battery is at 100%.

Hopefully I will have an answer from the dealership today. Roadside Assistance picked it up yesterday and delivered it 2 hours so I didn't have to drive it in! Very thankful for that! I'll update as soon as I have an answer! Thanks for the replies!
Looks like the battery I bought off the dealership advice and had installed at home wasn't exactly compatible with the car--go figure. They gave me the exact specifications and I bought exactly what they said to buy.
That cleared up the warning I was getting and they also said the computer in the car had all kinds of error messages. All clear with a new battery which they covered under the warranty. They also found a fan that was burned out in the clutch. Have no idea what this is or what it does but it is also under warranty.
Speaking of warranties, can you buy an extended warranty and are the worth it?

I bought exactly what the service department person told me to get and it had identical numbers to the one that was in it. Not sure why it messed up, but I have a feeling that the original battery had already been replaced by the person I bought the car from. I was only out $130 for the battery, so it wasn't that bad.
The problems that were discovered were independent of each other. The fan had been out for some time and went unnoticed at my recent service interval. It's all good. This experience cost me a whopping $8 for a new smart key battery.

They didn't tell you what really happened. Its common for service writers to do that. Especially on newer vehicles. and you should have gotten the old battery back or actually gotten it warranteed. The vehicle's battery was covered under LR warrantee. But they just threw a new one in cause it was easier. Probably had an issue with wiring or a reprogram to something. I would ask for the battery back or credit you 130 dollars. But at the same time they may say that since you decided to ignore them and not bring the vehicle to them for service and ignore them then oh well. If you ignore the dealer during your warrantee period any out of pocket expenses that you decide to pay for cause you don't want to go to the dealer is on your shoulders. Not there's They may have said that it was smarter for you to get the vehicle jumped and or get it towed and then let them decide what is covered. It would have cost you either nothing or very little for the battery and install. But you don't like the dealer and didn't buy it from them so they may so oh well. LRNA may do nothing as well. Your choice of mechanics is your choice. But it doesn't mean LR has to cover stuff you want to pay for out of pocket cause a under trained non certified mechanic tells you to.
Wow, R4L, you are RUDE and a Senior Member of this forum. I'm glad you don't work at my LR dealer! I would NEVER go back! Not sure why you attack people here--I've seen it before on threads that I have read, but you clearly turn people off. BTW--your assessment of what was wrong--"throttle issues causing the shutdown or transmission issues" couldn't have been more INCORRECT. But thanks anyway.
As for the battery issue, when it died, I called my Land Rover dealer--who I actually LOVE as they have impeccable customer service. I told them the battery was fried and asked if they wanted me to bring the vehicle up to them--2 HOURS away BTW--they said NO. Tech guy gave me the exact specifications on the battery and told me I could have it done myself for much less than LR would charge. He never mentioned it was covered under the warranty at that time, if he had, I would have had Roadside Assistance put the car on a rollback and take it to the dealer and they could have replaced the battery. I did EXACTLY what they said to do and that is why they covered the battery issue under the warranty THIS time. So, your "made up statement" that I "ignored" LR is completely UNTRUE.
As I do live so far away from the closest dealer, getting the car up there for every little issue will not be possible so it is nice to know people who can work on these cars and other European vehicles that we have owned--Porsche, Benz, Aston Martin, BMW, etc. If there has ever been a time that the guy wasn't comfortable with what needed to be done, he said so and the cars go in for repairs. Any major issues and the car goes straight to the dealer. No problem. But, yeah, I can't drive 2 hours at the drop of a hat to replace a battery but I can call the dealer--and DO that--anytime I have an issue. They are ALWAYS willing to help with GREAT customer service.
