Default 1994 discovery 200 diesel, turbo problem??

Hi, I'm having a problem with the Intercooler pipe that connects to the inlet manifold on the motor, revving the motor is making the pipe collapse, resulting in no power and lots of black exhaust smoke ..Can anyone offer an explanation please. Cheers Dave

Sounds like either the hose is really old and deteriorated, or you have a massive restriction in the plumbing somewhere.

Hi Tom, thanks for the quick response, I had peviously checked for blockages in the air and vacuum intakes, I have been led to believe that the waste gate does not move unless the vehicle is being driven underload, is this correct ?, I have removed the circlip on the manifold and the flap moves freely, there appears to be no movement on the vac pump rod, could the vac pump at the waste gate be the problem ?....When I run and rev the engine with the Intercooler pipe removed from the intake at the inlet manifold on the engine, the intake suction is very powerfull, but the exit from the turbo at the Intercooler is way down Less powerfull, is this again pointing back to the waste gate or the vacuum pump. Dave
