Hi all,

The battery and alternator on my 1997 RR 4.6 HSE are 1 year old. It refused to start yesterday. I heard a clicking noise under the front passenger seat which I recorded and can e-mail (apparently I can't attach sound files here).

I jumped the battery and the engine made a strange whirring noise which changed tempo when I pressed the accelerator. I turned it off because I didn't want to do any damage. I've also recorded this second noise and can send both clips via e-mail.

Any ideas on what this might be? FYI, the car also failed to turn over after a two week break about 3 weeks ago. I jumped it and then it was fine.
