Default 1998 Disco I 150,000

Hoping someone out there can point me in the right direction with my disco. I have an intermittent problem with the accelerator. At time while driving down the road my disco will suddenly loose power and then suddenly jerk back to life. It will somtimes do this off and on my whole trip to work (11miles) and some days it runs like a top. I have also found that when it looses power if i push the pedal to the floor it regains power again, but as i release the pedal back down to regain a steady cruising speed i often again get the same jerky power on power off ride. Also as a side note i somtimes find that my speedometer will stop working this is somtimes in conjunction with the acceleration problem and somtimes not. Im thinking sensors ?? possibly MAS or ECU. Dont have a code reader so just though maybe someone had had a similar problem cheers thanks Dave

Default What happen to hers.

I don't know if this helps, but my wife's Discovery (98) would cut out. Had know idea what it could be. Then one cold Jan. night it died. Had it flatbedded to dealer, mechanic thought it was fuse box under dash. When he was putting in the second box (thought the first was bad) he found a screw that had fallen from under the dash. Apparently there is a module above the fuse box that's grounded by the mounting screws, anti-theft or something. Anyway I thought this bill would be huge, but they only charged labor $300.

the symptoms you describe here are usually associated with a bad or failing VSS ( vehicle speed sensor) part # YBE100540G $109.95 @ Atlantic British ---roverparts.com.
about a 20 min job if you don't mind crawling under the vehicle as it is mounted on the transfercase......search the discovery section as there are a few threads with pics...good luck
