Question 1998 Discovery - Check Engine

Hey guys,

I'm new here so first I'll say hello. Hello. Now that the formalities are out of the way I'll get to the meat of this post. I just purchased an incredibly beat up Land Rover. Even in it's tore up condition I've quickly fallen in love with it. It has the check engine light on, so I took it to get the codes read and received the following.
  1. P1447 - Evap System Purge Valve Open or Short Circuit Fault
  2. P1313 - Misfire Catalyst Damage Fault Bank A
  3. P0451 - Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor Signal Error Fault

The vehicle seems to run ok, with maybe a little hesitance (I've never owned a LR before so I don't really have any base I can compare it to.)

Autozone was of little assistance with this so I'm hoping that you guys could help me figure this out, and see if it is something that I could service and fix myself.

Thanks in Advance.

AutoZone knows nothing about anything.
Start with a tune up, Kingsbourne plug wires and any spark plug you want.
Keep in mind these trucks REQUIRE premium gas.

Thanks for your advice. I'll start w/ a tune up (plugs, wires etc). I did not know that these vehicles required premium gasoline. Thank you for informing me of that. Any other things I should know?

Good start is to read the posts in the tech area. Lots of DIY write ups, high miles service list, etc. Free download of the fctory shop and owner manuals, called the RAVE, at links below. Do not trust the temperature gauge over 50%. Look at an Ultra Gauge when you get ready to invest $70 in the truck for an upgrade.

The power steering uses Dexron III, the transfer case uses gear oil not ATF like Jeeps and GM's do.
