Default (D2) 2001 engine in 2003, SAI problem.

Alright, 2003 D2 SE7, engine replaced with a 2001 w/o secondary air. Check engine light is on because the ‘03 computer doesn’t recognize that the ‘01 doesn’t require it. I need to pass inspection/emissions for my state.

Now from what I read switching the computers will not work because LR’s are designed with handshake security. Is there a way to bypass this without resetting the mileage or would it be easier to add the secondary air to the ‘01 engine? Or is swapping the BCM and ECU be the easier route to go and would that work? Or is it possible to pass the inspection if I reset the CEL, at what point in the drive cycle will it come back up?

(This is my second discovery, my first one was a 1998. I am a novice when it comes to these vehicles so please dumb it down)

to pass obd emissions you can't just reset the light and drive in. your vehicle has to reach readiness in a number of tests and that means driving it. if your ecu is expecting to see a secondary air system and it doesn't find one, i suspect that it will throw a code immediately. an illuminated cel is an automatic emissions fail.
to add the secondary air back, at minimum you'll have to install the injectors in the heads. i don't think you'd be able to do that to non-sai heads.
