My 2002 Discovery won't start now prior it had a few times of long cranks to get it started. The alarm was not set off any time recently. I've had new spark plugs and wires last week and after it wouldn't start I then replaced the crankshaft sensor I read that in a couple threads. I also marked the belt to see if it was turning and it was. I got error codes p0560, p1536 and p1668. Any ideas or suggestions? Thank you.

 

the first one is saying low voltage....
any problems with the charging system can cause other issues and even codes.
imo, check out the charging system first. what is it your voltage? make sure you are charging and check all connections with the alt and battery...make sure to check grounds

if you have bad ground or loose connection somewhere, you'll have issues

 

Thanks again. Any ideas where to start looking for loose connections? It was just parked in my parking lot at work after running fine driving it to work and driving on a two hour trip the day before.

 

I'd start at battery and the rats nest of a grounding strip down beside it. follow the main ground off of there. make sure it is making a good connection. then you have the ones on the head. also head over to alternator and check those out....and the little one on the back of it

 

Dusty thanks so much for your help I gave in and towed it to the mechanic. He narrowed it down the the engine relay next to the ABS relay in the engine fuse panel. Running just like it was before.

 

Your 560 code is, "System Voltage Low", have you actualy verified that charging voltage is between 13.6 and 14.4 volts at idle with everything turned on?
Your 1536 is an a/c fault and the 1668 is" Engine anti-theft signal circuit high, serial link open open.

 

He does live. Is it possible the 1668 is keepIng it from starting?
is that one of the codes that can be cleared using the door key?

 

My mechanic figured it out after checking everything he could find. The engine relay next to the abs relay in the engine fuse panel was bad. So that's where the low voltage was coming from. Thanks for everyone's suggestions.
