2003 Freelander Speedometer is 20mph off
Hello,
I recently bought this 2003 Freelander SE that only has 50k miles on it. I have been discovering a few things wrong with it and fixing what I can. The biggest issue that I have identified right now is that the speedometer is 20mph fast at 50mph. Basically, while doing 50mph, checked against another vehicle and two GPS apps, the speedometer reads 70mph.
The speed isn't steady at 20mph off. At slower speeds the variance isn't as high.
My initial research shows that there may be two different speed sensors on this vehicle. One being an ABS sensor by the wheel and one in the transmission. Is that accurate? Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this or if there may be a way to reset the speedometer like you can in a Jeep?
Thanks in advance for any advice or insight.
