Default 2003 RR Cranking/gera shifter/transmission issues..... HELP!!

I have a 2003 Range Rover HSE. Yesterday they gear shifter started disengaging from park to neutral. Later in the day while driving home the truck started to jerk back and forth then died. Now it will not crank and will move while in park. Anyone have any idea what could be the problem. Since it wont crank the only way i can get it to the shop is by Tow but cant really afford that right now. Kinda hoping maybe someone has had this type of issue and can lead me in the right direction.

Hi their is the gear selector working? I would firstly check the selector cable is connected and moving the gear selector on the gear box it may just be a cable issue. Hope this helps

Actually, after taking it to a shop it turned out to need a new fuel pump. They said that both of mine went out and that there is no other issues. He also said it was some sort of fail safe that was making the gear shifter switch out to neutral. Needless to say my range rover is not getting fixed as of yet, the part was quoted at 1600.00. Found that to be unbelievable so am now looking to sale the truck.. But thank you so much for the input!
