Default 2003 RR Transmission gear changing issues?

Hi I have a 2003 Rangie, which has recently just started not allowing me to get to 5th gear or at times 4th. It revs up to a high level in 3rd and will shift to 4th at about 4000 rpm, but then continues in 4th at about 2600 rpm , not the usual 2100 ( at 100 KMPH)
Even if I shift to sport it will not shift.
Has only occured twice , both times after a strong acceleration to pass another vehicle.
When I stop the car ( turning it off) for a few minutes it resolves and I can continue as if nothing has happened.
Any ideas?
I had the trans serviced as I thought it may be a filter/oil issue, but this has not solved the problem.
If I drive sedately then all is good, but at times I need extra acceleration to pass.

Thanks for your help
Greg

This happened to me once a year or so ago. Like your issue, it resolved itself, but I still used my code reader to reset all codes (note, no codes read at the time). I haven't had the problem since. I don't know if it has been luck or the fact that I reset the codes, but may be something to try if you haven't yet.

If it continues, get it into a tranny shop, not the dealer and have them read for fault codes.

I had the similiar issue when shifting over to manual mode. It turned out to be that it was my radiator that ended up ****-ing the fan. It was causing my trany to overheat, due to the coolant not being able to circulate and keep my main RR's components cool. I would check that first, then possibly the hoses while your at it. If all fails, have your trany inspected by a tech who primarily works on Euro cars.

Please call your Rolls is a switch that has the engine speed lever to move to the selected speed and the shifter has a very soft light. Ultimately, the problem is the electric motor in the handle or gear motor, with a breakdown of them are quick or easy solutions.
