Default Urgent: Range Rover Gear changing noices?

I want to buy a range rover 95 2.5 DSE from a local dealer, and I have to make the decision asap.

The main issue is,

When I drove the car, I found the change of gear 1 to 2 making noices (sounds like from gear box). However, if i first changed the gear 1 into neutral and then to gear 2, there were not noices any more. For changes of all other gears were quite clear.

My question is : is it in general a problem of gear box? or maybe it is a simple problem of clutch that I can relatively eaily handle?

Thank you very much for your kind reply.

Tranny noises must always be looked at seriously because of the potenetial cost of repair.

Hi Mike,
thank you very much for your quick reply.
I think I will not take the car then.
Best regards,
Alex
