2004 Defender trouble starting
Hi guys,
I'd really appreciate some tech help if anyone has any ides.
I have a 2004 Defender Xtreme TD5. It was running perfectly but has recently had trouble starting. As in it can take a while for the engine trying to start with the starter motor going. Sometimes it starts almost instantly sometimes it may take a minute of off and on with the starter to get it to run. The weird thing is once it's running it's perfect?
So far Ive checked the fuel filter and tried injestor cleaner. Then I took it to Gympie Land Rover and they have tried changing over the ECU, fuel pump, checking the fuel injection and taking off the rocker cover and looking at the injector lines in there. They seem to be a little stumped to.
Has anyone had this problem because I'm driving around my mums Ford Focus until it's fixed it has personalized Betty Boo license plates and it's driving me crazy

Sounds like you have a glow plug problem (just going off my diesel experience with other brands since vehicles like yours don't exist (officially) in the US). It almost sounds like the relay is sporadically working.
Injector timing may be off.
The injectors may not be getting the signal to work.
Poor quality fuel.
Restricted air or fuel filters.
The fuel system might be bleeding down and you're getting air in the injector lines or injector pump.
