Default 2004 disco power steering problems

i need advice on my power steering problem! my disco started making a loud 'whirring' or 'winding' sound a few months ago when i a) accelerated and b) turned the wheel either to the right or left. i took it in and was told it was a power steering pump problem. i just had it replaced today and it's STILL making the same winding/whirring sounds. the mechanic told me it would take some driving the car for the car to adjust to the new pump and redistribute the fluid, but how much time should it take? if it continues to makes these sounds what else could it be? when i punch the gas it 'whirs' loud and goes away when i deccelerate (is that a word...LOL). any 411 or feedback would be really appreciated! thanks!

There is no "getting used to" a new power steering pump, if they used the wrong type of fluid it can cause the pump to fail.
If they installed a rebuilt or used pump it can be bad.
