Default 2009 2010 Navigation Update

Newbie question here but I couldn't find the answer after a few searches. Will the latest nav dvd update just the maps or will it update the entire system? I have the original 2005-2006 DVD in my "new to me" 2006 LR3 and the nav experience has been pretty poor to say the least... Curious if the 09-10 update would be worth the $200...

It only updates the maps. To update the entire system, the dealer needs to find out if there is an actual update or not.

no real update except for maintenance purposes. Nothing you see.

I downloaded the latest nav DVD for my dads E240 -04, burnt it on a high quality DVD, put it in and he got the update and all the latest maps..
I got mine for europe from thepiratebay.org but you can also use google for it eventhough the hits might not be as good..
The downside is that thepiratebay.org is a Swedish site so if you're in the US or asia there's a little chance you'll find anything for your car.

Default another newbie about map updates!

I too am a newbie and actually joined to see what i could find out about anyone's experience with the map updates. I plan to do it because there's been so much construction in Providence, RI area. Here's what I know: the website is from navteq (I guess the company that does the software?) and it's www.mapupdatemonth.com. I also heard that it updates the data -- which means maps, and points of interest.

I purchased the DVD and installed with no issues. It was well worth it as now I at least have a functional navigation unit. As others will tell you it is not the best as far as features and functions and will never be as good as a standalone unit. But at least I can use it to get from point A to point B with more confidence than before the upgrade... Good luck with the update.

Thanks for letting me know it was worth it -- you were right! Bit the bullet and glad I did it. It's no longer telling me I'm in the water when I'm on the highway - lol... I also noticed new restaurants that weren't on there before.
