2009 LR2 Reduced Engine Performance warning
2009 LR2 would not start this morning - clicking - suspected battery. Battery is the original. I put it on the charger for 1.5 hours. Vehicle started but running very rough - like dropping to 2-3 cylinders, dropping revs, picks up to normal idle then drops again and cycles through this pattern. My dealer is 120 miles away I suspect alternator or computer. Any tips appreciated for action I can take locally.

Hope this helps.
There was a recall on most LR2s because of a small coolant hose near the intake manifold has a tendency to leak a very small amount of coolant. The coolant ends up getting into the alternator which may fail. If you tried to start the engine when the battery is low the cars computers may not have received the proper voltage at start up, resulting in all sorts of random fault codes being stored. You can do what is called a "hard reset" in an emergency to maybe get it to run right. Disconnect both battery cables and then touch the cable ends together for a few seconds (the clamps at the end of the battery cables). Make sure the battery is completely disconnected when you do this. Then reconnect the battery and see if it runs better. You likely need the alternator replaced and I'm not sure I would trust it to drive 150 miles to the dealer.
