Default 2012 LR4 AC issue

Hello, looks like I am having issue with my LR4 A/C. It had started to blow warm in stop and go traffic. Hooked up the manifold gauges to sytem. Low side read 53, high side read 210. Took it to a shop. They did an evac, vac and recharge. No change. Gauge reading were the exact same. At night, A/C blows a cold 40*. During the day it will not get below 65*. The engine fan is a clutch style and it works fine. Pulled the front grill assembly off and washed the condensor with no change to the readings. I have seen a few diagrams as to the location of the expansion valve. I can see where the high/low lines enter the firewall in the engine bay. Do I have to pull the entire dash in order to access the valve? Many thanks.

Fixing to tear into the dash to get to the expansion valve. Before I do, I noticed something today. With the AC button on, and the rear button on, it blows cold 60*. Yet, when I turn the rear off, front on, the fron blows warm. Is this something totally apart from the expansion valve that i should be looking into? Readings are still the same as before, around 53/210. Thank you

Well, I replaced the expansion valve, vac'd and recharged. Does not blow cold at all now. 40 low side, 190 high side. Any pointers?

A/C just up and started working the next day. We evac'd, vac and recharged it one more time. At first, nada. Then out of the blue, started working. Blows cold now. Weird.

These vehicles use a variable displacement compressor. If the charge is correct and heat exchange is taking place at the condenser (fan is pulling air and condenser not clogged), then out of whack pressures usually correlate to incorrect flow from compressor.

Perhaps that was the issue. It is blowing cold now. 39* out of dash vents via thermometer. Thing is now, if i shut off the rear A/C button it blows warm. Thanks for the info on the compressor.
