Default 94 Discovery Engine Problems

I justacquired a 94 discovery with what is claimed to be a headgasket leak, but am not sure if that is conclusive. It makes a really loud kind of clicking noise, which gets faster as I press the gas pedal, and I can feel quite forceful air escaping the engine in bursts in time with the clicking noise on the drivers side. This escaping air that shoots out is smokey after warming up and is coming from the back of the engine / last cylinder on the drivers side area.Any ideas? Does it sound like the head gasket? Thanks everyone!
