Default 96 Discovery extended cranking time and rich fuel smell

Hi all,

I have a 1996 Discovery that just recently got a problem starting. You have to crank for about 10-15 seconds before it will start and then you can smell it running rich.

Had a code 1187 for O2 sensor. Bank 2 wasn't responding during monitor tests. Replaced both upstream sensor but don't have tool to reset code. But don't think that could have effected starting since computer shouldn't be looking at O2 sensors during starting.

Is there a cold start injector?

I haven't erased the code and reset the computer because my scanner doesn't have software for European cars.

My friend said that vehicle won't run right until computer is reset, is that true???

Is it possible to reset computer without a scanner??? i tried disconnecting the battery but that didn't work.

yes it will clear the code but the oxygen sensor won't be causing the issue. hard starts are fuel or ignition or compression issues.
