Default '96 Discovery Problem

I hope someone here can help. I've started having problems with the blinkers on my 1996 Discovery. It seems they want to only work when they want to. There is no pattern as far as I can determine (hot, cold, damp, dry), just some days they wont blink. The blinker lights come on but wont blink! I called the nearest Land Rover dealer and the gentleman in their repair department had never heard of such a problem and suggested I bring it in for diagnositcs but I'm hoping someone here can help and save me a 200+ mile drive. Thanks!

I'm a long way from being an expert, but this sound like a classic - it's most likely the 'flasher unit' in the fuse box. If you've got the owners handbook for the car it will show the location a lot better than I'd be able to describe it in text. Typically they're a sub $20 part and you can fit a new one yourself in a matter of minutes. I'd be very suprised if you couldn't get one mail order. If it was mine, I'd try that first before driving 200 miles ;-)

Cheers,

I agree, but first check as many of your light related connections and then go for a flasher. How about your emergency flashers, are tgey working?
