Default 97 D1 speedometer problem

Any ideas why speedometer stops at 60 mph at freeway speed then at full stop is at 10 mph? THANKS

Could be a wiring issue behind your cluster and/or a Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) gone bad (pretty typical).

See page 101 of the "Electrical Trouble Shooting" manual which can be found in the google drive link in my signature.

I noticed that the odometer is not working. Heard there was a buffer on the back side of speedometer is that a common failure? Is it easy to replace? Not finding a replacement part for it. Again the speedometer works but doesn’t move past 60mph and odometer is zeroed. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Maybe it's trying to tell you not to drive faster than 60. It's an old man now in Rover years remember
