Default 97 D1 won’t accelerate

Code 1179 AFMR relates to maf, however tried 2 known good ones no change, Code 1316 misfire problem still checking for problem. Disconnected the maf and D1 ran smooth however its in limp mode. Reconnected the maf while engine running and ECU seemed to recognize MAF. Test drove all was well til next morning start up reverted back stumble and hesitation. Test drove without maf connected ran well. Took to local shop tech installed another maf said it’s ready to drive. Took around the block and started stumbled and die out. So shop tested all the usual suspects fuel pressure, tps , dropped exhaust to see if restricted, suspected alternator all with no change. I read a old post that this problem is faulty ECU and was suggested to swap with known good one to fix the problem. Any suggestions, ideas-are appreciated.

I suspect you have some bad wiring somewhere along the line. maybe not though.

I'd start from scratch and reset the ECU first and then move forward from there.

ECU was the problem opened up smelled burned! Replaced with known good unit started right up, power restored. Replaced Maf and alternator as well. Success.
