Anyone have experience addressing a PS leak on a 1997 D90? I'm curious what the fix should cost me to replace the hose and do a full flush. Can I expect the cost to be more parts or labor heavy?

Its a easy DIY, if you want first you can start topping off the system with Valvoline MaxLife ATF.
The Power steering system on Defenders and DI's use ATF (automatic transmission fluid, Dexron III)
I started using it and it slowed my leak to almost nil.

 

Thanks for the tip Spike. Any special LR tools needed for the DIY repair or will the common tool box items get me through?

 

You need to take some time and find the leak, come on, you can see it and all we can do is guess. You have 3 hoses, a p/s pump and the p/s gear box, any of which can be leaking, how can we give you an estimate?
Don't let it run low and get it to a good mechanic, not the dealer and plan on spending some possibly big money since you haven't found the leak.

 

Common tools Joe, thats all you should need.
